A Weekly Meditation of Pastor Chang
<Witnesses of Life After Death> (63)
After writing this subject, “Witnesses of Life after Death” for more than one year, I never change the main purpose which is: To proclaim the gospel and to witness for Jesus Christ as the only Lord and Savior. The writer of the Hebrews says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb. 12:1, 2)
We praise the Lord that we have seen many people at our church because of experiencing Christ, their lives changed. Many of them have done their earthly works and now are with the Lord in heaven. I quoted some of their life experiences as witnesses to help us to face the reality of the suffering of this world. These witnesses are real because I myself saw them with my own eyes. Trust me! These stories will assist you to know the truth of the Bible for this book is very reliable.
In the past few weeks, I changed another related subject to talk about the realities of “Heaven” and “Hell.” Brothers and sisters, the more I study the Bible, the more I love the words of God, for there are so real and that make me to be more reverent to our God and the Bible. In ancient time, the emperors were the real rulers of the countries. Whatsoever he said would be regarded as real and they would come true. Therefore, there was a Chinese saying, “When the emperor never jokes his words, the officers will never report fake.”
If the words of the emperors were so powerful, the words of the Bible which come from God the Almighty One must be even more real and powerful. Therefore, when Jesus Christ talks about Himself, He says, “The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful.” (John 3: 31-33.) Jesus Christ comforts His followers with such wonderful words, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14: 1-3)
How wonderful the promises are! Each word is full of power, love and truth. It is because of these wonderful words, countless people have received comfort, hope and assurance although they had to face a lot of difficulties and ordeals through the past twenty centuries. Therefore, the real wise people who know the truth know Jesus Christ also.
In several occasions I was asked, “When am I going to retire?” And if I retire, “what will I do?” My answer is: “I will officially retire from our church ministries someday; nevertheless, I will never retire from serving the Lord and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Why? It is because the Kingdom of God is still in the battle fighting against the devil which never gets retired. Please take a look of the works of the evils. They work tirelessly to steal, kill, seduce, and deceive people and lead them step by step moving toward the hell. If we know it, how can we see and never work to fight against the evil forces? Now, it is an age that we need to work and win more people from the hands of evils.
Once I was asked, “Why are you so bold to oppose the promotion of the homosexual agenda?” My answer is very simple, “I learn from them.” Once I thought: How come they shamelessly keep talking and spreading their agenda and I dare not to speak as they do? If they speak fake so boldly, why do I need to be scared to speak the truth?
If the Bible teaches us about the meaning of life in Christ and the final human destinies: either going to heaven or to hell. Also if Christ is the only answer and the only salvation according to the Bible, and we are convinced that it is true; why shall we be ashamed of sharing the gospel with others? May the Lord bless us!
